Given our vision to enable sustainable living, an online store that handpicks ecofriendly products from small ethical home-based businesses from across the city and delivers them at doorstep, contact-free – looked like the next logical step. Also, because our vendors network from Maati Fest , especially the urban farmers, kept reaching out… struggling to move stock during the pandemic. From reusable cloth pads to homemade pickles – we started catering to all requests that came our way. We even took up a postcard sized space at the basement of a gated community of the founder that doubled up as a warehouse.

Maati Eco Store instantly received unprecedented love and affection from pan-India sustainable lifestyle enthusiasts. Whether it was because of the goodwill towards The Bartan Company and the associated empathy towards its untimely collapse or Maati’s reasonably priced, good quality products - it’s difficult to tell. But it saved us from hitting the bottom of the pit and we couldn’t be more grateful!

As the pandemic eased out and the world began to inch towards its good old acceptable “normal” - The Bartan Company was shaken from its slumber. In no time we were back enabling zero waste events and Maati Eco Store, very organically, became the bulk gifting provider for these events.

Fast forward to 2024. Maati Eco Store is now Maati Eco Gifts. Retail division has pulled its shutters down to make way for bulk gifting. Joy of curating unique gifting solutions to suit diverse budgets and preferences, oftentimes going beyond websites and catalogues, scanning the entire length and breadth of the country - is just the kind of challenging we love. Not to mention the opportunity to explore newer products, learning about their craftsmanship stories, gauging their environment footprint, before finally recommending it to the client - is another aspect that keeps us fuelled.
